Nature Brian Is Finding His Dream in Morning Morgantown
Growing up in Uganda, Nature Brian was uncomfortable. He kept thinking that he was “born in the wrong body.” It reached a point where he even went to his mom to ask whether he was a boy or a girl.
“My mom was like, no. You don’t have to choose. You go, my child. That's your nature! So that's where I got my name, Nature.”
“Nature Brian" is a moniker that also reflects his profound connection with the natural world and his nurturing spirit. Nature Nature Brian is a champion for environmental and social causes, a beacon of resilience and advocacy. His journey from Uganda to Morgantown, West Virginia, is a testament to the power of perseverance and the human spirit's capacity to overcome adversity.
Nature Brian's story begins in the vibrant landscapes of Uganda, where he was born and raised. From a young age, he displayed an extraordinary affinity for nature, spending hours in the lush greenery that surrounded his hometown. This deep connection to the earth was more than just a pastime; it shaped his identity and his purpose in life.
However, life in Uganda came with challenges. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Nature Brian faced significant obstacles and discrimination. Despite these hardships, he used his experiences to fuel his commitment to environmental conservation and social justice. His passion for these causes led him to work on various community projects, advocating for sustainable practices and the rights of marginalized communities.
Arriving in Kenya in 2015 as a refugee, Nature Brian continued to face discrimination and violence due to his LGBTQ+ identity. Despite the challenges, he found solace and support, growing an online platform for fellow refugees to express themselves, expanding from 16 to over 100. The Nature Network provided a safe space for empowerment through counseling, training, and community gatherings.
Nature Brian's activism eventually meant that he had to move, seeking refuge in the United States. In Morgantown, West Virginia he found a community that embraced him, and allowed him to continue his advocacy work with renewed vigor. Morgantown became not just a safe haven but a platform for Nature Brian to reach a wider audience with his message of love, acceptance, and environmental stewardship.
Around town, Nature Brian is known for his infectious enthusiasm and his ability to inspire others. He is involved in local environmental projects, such as tree planting campaigns and educational programs designed to teach young people about the importance of conservation. His efforts extend beyond environmental issues; he is also a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, using his story to empower others in the community and to foster a culture of inclusivity and respect.
Nature Brian's story continues to inspire all who meet him. He is not only a guardian of the environment but also a guardian of human rights, proving every day that one person can indeed make a difference. As he often says, "We are all part of nature, and in nature, everything connects." Nature Brian lives this philosophy, connecting people, bridging differences, and nurturing both the land and the community around him.
